Turner, who had Craig Raymond Turner at the age of 18 before marrying Ike Turner, dropped a single red rose into Pacific Ocean along with the ashes of her 59-year-old son, according to the singer’s Twitter account.

“My saddest moment as a mother. On Thursday, July 19, 2018, I said my final goodbye to my son, Craig Raymond Turner, when I gathered with family and friends to scatter his ashes off the coast of California. He was fifty-nine when he died so tragically, but he will always be my baby.”

Craig’s father was saxophonist, Raymond Hill, who played for Ike’s band, Kings of Rhythm. Ike Turner later adopted Craig when he married Tina.

Turner was embraced by her husband German record executive Erwin Bach as she dropped the rose into the ocean.

Turner resides in Switzerland. The “What’s Love Got to Do With It” singer has been based in Switzerland for decades and she became a Swiss citizen in April 2013.

Turner, who reportedly speaks German fluently, had few ties to her native country “except for family, and has no plans to reside in the United States in the future.”

Tina Turner Musical

Some would say Turner has had a rough life that would have a fairytale ending until the news broke about her son’s suicide. Still, amid the sad news, the musical about her life is still taking flight. The multiple Grammy Award-winner joined with the creative and production teams to bring the Tina Turner musical to life.

Collaborators include writer Katori Hall (The Mountaintop), Frank Ketelaar and Kees Prins, director Phyllida Lloyd (Mary Stuart, Mamma Mia!), set and costume designer Mark Thompson, musical supervisor Nicholas Skilbeck and choreographer Anthony van Laast.

According to Turner, “We have been working on the musical for over a year now and today I am delighted to be able to share our news as we begin the next chapter of our journey. It has been wonderful to collaborate with Katori and Phyllida and to have my story nurtured by such an amazing creative team is thrilling. London has always had a very special place in my heart and it’s wonderful to be back.”

We wish the Turner family peace at this difficult time.
