We spoke to the cast of 'The Drop' about the 'Snowfall' spin-off, embodying LA culture and making viral moments every week.
The Drop: A Snowfall Saga is on the way to the top of the charts with a bullet. The spin-off/ continuation, starring beloved Snowfall characters Leon and Wanda, has hit a stride and we’re deeply invested in the characters, the storyline and the moments that make the show a standout on the current TV landscape.
Set on the West Coast in the 90s at the brink of the hip-hop music scene, Wanda has her eyes set on the music business. And she’s good at it. While her acquaintances never let her forget her yesteryears, she is determind to make it and uses the lessons she learned in the streets to navigate the biz.
We caught up with the cast — Gail Bean, Isaiah John, Peyton Alex Smith, Asante Blackk as Lamar Kinsey and Simmie “Buddy” Sims III — to chat about the series’ success, Cali culture and viral moments that have the fans locked in every week.
For Gail Bean, there has been much talk about her character Wanda leading the series. But that only empowers Bean to prove haters wrong. “I feel that we all have stories that deserve to be told. I allow people have their opinion. But, When I read that, I’m just don’t believe me just watch.”
