It looks like Lauryn Hill may be back to her old tricks again.
This week, the NY Daily News reports that fans were disappointed when it was announced that music legend had canceled or postponed multiple dates on her upcoming “Miseducation of Lauryn Hill” 20th anniversary tour of her groundbreaking solo album.
Wednesday, Live Nation released a statement explaining why the Grammy award winning artist left her fans in the lurch.
“Due to unforeseen production issues, a select number of dates on ‘The Miseducation of Lauryn Hill’ 20th Anniversary Tour have been postponed or canceled… For postponed shows, tickets will be valid for the rescheduled date.”
Well, that explains it all. Not.
Fellow musicians such as Nas, Busta Rhymes, A$AP Rocky, Shabazz Palaces, Dave East, Raury, Bambaataa Marley, Dave Chappelle, De La Soul, Taleb Kweli, Sza and others were slated to perform at the show.
The tour already experienced a few hiccups after Hill reportedly received complaints from fans after her Toronto concert on July 18. Attendees were upset about the show’s poor sound quality and the singer’s notorious tardiness. She reportedly showed up an hour late and only performed for 45 minutes. Of the brief time she spent on stage, some of that time was wasted criticizing her live band and tech crew, as she appeared to rush through 10 songs, Exclaim reported.
So, Ms. Hill hit the stage 2 hours late and then did a 45-minute set.
Gotta agree with @questlove who said: Hill is facing down “the embarrassment of now being a one album legacy artist and the possibility of not mattering anymore in this disposable society.”— Errol Nazareth (@ErrolNazareth) July 19, 2018
The concert actually ended on somewhat of a high note with Hill’s remix of Drake‘s “Nice for What,” which interpolates her song “Ex-Factor” in its chorus.

So disappointed in Lauryn Hill concert. Waited forever for 45 mins. And she yelled at her tech the whole time. Such a legend. Such a fail.

Sorry, but tour dates for Charlotte, N.C., Raleigh, N.C., St. Petersburg, FL and Virginia Beach have all been canceled. Miami’s concert date has been moved to October 15. The Nashville, TN date was moved to October 11 and the Atlanta, Georgia date has been changed to October 13.
It isn’t all disappointing news. After a performance at the Pitchfork Music Festival earlier this month where she was only 20-minutes late, Stereogum senior editor, Tom Breihan wrote, “She was engaged and happy. She looked great. Her voice was strong.”
You know what I do when I get to the Lauryn Hill concert on time? I work on myself.
Read a book! Binge a documentary series. Last concert I watched the entire Ken Burns Civil War documentary series before she arrive. #AntHill— M’BlockU (@rodimusprime) July 23, 2018
