It’s official!
LeBron James is leaving the Cleveland Cavaliers and taking his talents over to the Los Angeles and scored a mega four-year, $154 million deal, reports James’ agency Klutch Sports Group.
According to Bobby Marks of ESPN, the breakdown for James’ contract amounts for the next four years to: $35.65M, $37.43M, $39.21M and $41M. He is not eligible for a no trade clause.
It’s no surprise that James was preparing to leave the Cleveland Cavaliers – again. James has been grappling with this decision, especially after the Golden State Warriors swept the Cavs in the NBA Finals and it was clear that he struggled to connect with teammates. The team ultimately could not secure the championship.
The Lakers could certainly use the help of King James since they’ve missed the playoffs for a record five consecutive seasons.

James became a free agent last week and made it known that he was interested in the Lakers. The Sixers tried to lure him to their team as well.
There was heavy speculation Lebron had made up his mind about leaving, and Chris Sheridan at NJ.com says blame can be laid squarely at the feat of owner Dan Gilbert.
Gilbert is well-known as a Donald Trump supporter, though as Yahoo News noted, he also donated to Hillary Clinton‘s campaign. The fact of the matter is that Gilbert is seen as a Trump supporter, and considering James’ vocal opinions on the President, his boss’ political affiliation isn’t sitting well with the NBA star.
In the end, James and his family spend summers in L.A. and have a home there, so that might have helped him make a sound decision.
