Kim Kardashian met with Donald Trump to discuss prison reform and the internet has jokes
“It’s funny because people will just hear something and not understand, ‘What does Kim have to do with prison reform?’ Seven months ago I saw a story on Twitter and it was about a great-grandmother that just tugged at my heart and it was just that simple connection.
If it takes me to go and talk to the highest person in power, the only person that can make this happen, which is President Trump, then I will definitely do that.
The president seems to have a passion for what everything that Jared has been trying to do and that just makes me happy that that conversation is just moving forward.
5 Things to know about Alice Marie Johnson, the Black woman Kim Kardashian wants Trump to pardon
The 63-year-old great-grandmother was convicted in 1996 on eight criminal counts stemming from a Memphis-based cocaine trafficking operation involving more than a dozen people.
Ten of her co-defendants testified against her during her trial in exchange for a reduced or dropped charges. For some reason Johnson was never offered the same plea deal and she was sentenced to life in prison in 1997.
Kim Kardashian West also shared a portion of a telephone call with Alice Johnson that took place after the meeting.
“I love you for real. From my heart, I love you,” Johnson tells West who responds, “Aw, I love you.”
It’s clear the incarcerated great grandmother is extremely appreciative of West’s efforts to bring her home.
“From my soul I love you. From my spirit I love you,” Johnson continues.
West responds by saying, “You would’ve been proud of us today.”
Let’s hope the love fest can continue when Johnson is released from prison which won’t happen unless Donald Trump signs off on the decision.
