Floyd Mayweather apparently just can’t get enough.

The light-middleweight boxer retired undefeated from the ring in 2015, only to make a much-hyped nine-figure, singular comeback in 2017 against mixed martial arts fighter Conor McGregor. Now, he says he is possibly eyeing a return to the world of fighting next year, despite publicly saying he was permanently hanging up his gloves.

In an early Friday, overly-dramatized IG post, Mayweather posted a one-sentence tease while pictured with a bowed head and his hands wrapped.

In the post before that, he was pictured with UFC president Dana White while at a Boston Celtics/LA Clippers game in Los Angeles with a caption saying: “@danawhite and I working together again to bring the world another spectacular event in 2020.”

The two men had promoted the fight between Mayweather and McGregor, which he won handily, improving his record to 50-0. The fight turned out to be the second highest-selling, pay-per-view event of all time. Nonetheless, fans are still hella confused if this means Mayweather will fight again, or if he will be part of boxing or MMA management in some capacity.

In a Reuters interview, Mayweather, 42, said that he’s done throwing punches for money.

“I’ve got calls to get back into the ring, but my health is my wealth,” he told the outlet. “Boxing is a very, very brutal sport. In the last few years, a lot of fighters have died inside that squared circle.”

He also told Forbes magazine in January 2018 that he intended to stay on the business end of things by making investments in gyms and real estate.

“I’ve got different ventures like [Mayweather Boxing + Fitness] keeping me active, keeping me busy. Also, I’m just doing positive work in our country as well as around the world,” he said.

Whatever Mayweather’s plans are, they could be linked to White’s intentions to launch his own boxing promotion company called Zuffa Boxing, according to MMAWeekly, which began to take shape shortly after the McGregor fight and had been slated to launch in October, although no official announcement has been made as to when it will debut.
