Obama who turns 57 years old today kicked off his birthday week turning up and showing out at a Beyoncé and Jay-Z concert, along with his wife, former First Lady Michelle Obama.

According to USA Today, he’ll cap things off by marking the first Barack Obama Day on Saturday, as the legislature in his former home state of Illinois passed a law last year to designate Aug. 4 as a commemorative holiday to celebrate the 44th president.

The state law says that Aug. 4 is “set apart to honor the 44th President of the United States of America who began his career serving the People of Illinois in both the Illinois State Senate and the United States Senate, and dedicated his life to protecting the rights of Americans and building bridges across communities.”
Democrats wanted Obama’s birthday to be recognized as a full legal holiday that gives state workers and others a paid day off, but Republicans were not having it, according to the report.
Folks on Twitter are flooding Obama’s timeline with a lot of love and B-day wishes, including political leaders, networks and journalists, sports stars, and activists such as Parkland victim David Hogg.
Obama’s vice president Joe Biden led the way with this endearing message:

Barack Obama was the first Black American man to hold the position of President of the United States. As noted by the sfgate.com, during his time in office, he signed many landmark bills into law, including the Affordable Care Act. He was awarded the Nobel Peace Prize in 2009.

Katie Hill, a spokeswoman for Mr. Obama, said he plans to celebrate his birthday with a family dinner in Washington on Saturday night.
