- This summer there are young Black boys learning how to code and be tech entrepreneurs and it’s all thanks to All Star Code. Christina Lewis founded All Star Code back in 2013, with the intent to educate, prepare and place young men of color in the tech industry. And Lewis is well on her way.
By 2020, All Star Code will have educated 10,000 young Black and Latino men in tech and entrepreneurship. According to Black Enterprise, the nonprofit recently raised 1 million dollars, that will be utilized for the growth and development of the program.
This Summer, All Star Code will host it’s summer intensive stem program. It is a free six week course that teaches web development and entrepreneurship skills. 95 percent of All Star Code intensive students are going on to attend 4-year colleges and some have created their own business or tech-related projects.
Christina credits her desire to create All Star Code to her late father, the legendary businessman Reginald F. Lewis – who founded the first Black-owned global enterprise to earn more than a billion dollars in revenue.
Now that’s what we call leaving a legacy!
