Mia Love, the GOP’s only Black woman in Congress, blasted Donald Trump on Monday as she officially conceded defeat in her re-election bid against Salt Lake City Mayor Ben McAdams, according to CNN.
Love, who is Haitian-American and has represented her district since 2015, responded to Trump’s comments about her during his post-Election Day press conference. Trump slammed Love because she did not embrace him and invite him to campaign for her.
“Mia Love gave me no love and she lost,” Trump tweeted. “Too bad. Sorry about that, Mia.”

Love did not hold back in responding to Trump, saying that said that his vision of the world is “no real relationships, just convenient transactions,” writes the news outlet.
“The President’s behavior towards me made me wonder: What did he have to gain by saying such a thing about a fellow Republican,” Love said. “It was not really about asking him to do more, was it? Or was it something else? Well Mr. President, we’ll have to chat about that.”
“However, this gave me a clear vision of his world as it is,” she continued, according to CNN. “No real relationships, just convenient transactions. That is an insufficient way to implement sincere service and policy.”
Love vowed to become a lot more outspoken once she leaves office and turned her focus to the GOP.
“Starting in January, my role will change and we still have a lot of work to do,” she said, adding that “we will not yield the moral high ground whatever the cost.”
Love reiterated a point made by prominent Republicans in 2012 after Mitt Romney’s loss to President Barack Obama.
“This election experience and these comments shines a spotlight on the problems Washington politicians have with minorities and black Americans — it’s transactional, it’s not personal,” Love said. “You see, we feel like politicians claim they know what’s best for us from a safe distance, yet they’re never willing to take us home.
“Because Republicans never take minority communities into their home and citizens into their homes and into their hearts, they stay with Democrats and bureaucrats in Washington because they do take them home—or at least make them feel like they have a home.”
Love, who also threw barbs at McAdams for being a “wolf in sheep’s clothing,” told the world to prepare for more from her in the coming years now that she’s out of office. She plans on holding nothing
“Good news is, I’m not going away,” she said. “But now, I am unleashed, I am untethered, and I am unshackled, and I can say exactly what’s on my mind.”
