Michael B. Jordan is set to star in a drama film called Journal for Jordan, that will be directed by Denzel Washington, according to Variety.
The Sony Pictures film is based on Pulitzer Prize-winning journalist Dana Canedy’s life. The movie will focus on Canedy’s love affair with First Sergeant Charles Monroe King.

While deployed overseas, King kept a journal that was filled with life lessons lesson for the couple’s son, Jordan. Although King was killed in Iraq in 2006, just seven months after Jordan was born, his journal full of messages for Dana and Jordan keeps his spirits alive.
Virgil Williams, an Oscar-nominated screenwriter, penned the script. Jordan will produce the film through his Outlier Society production company along with Washington. Escape Artist’s Todd Black, Jason Blumenthal, and Steve Tisch are also set to produce.
Jordan has received much success from starring in recent films, Black Panther and Creed II last year. Black Panther is up for an Oscar nomination for best picture this upcoming Sunday, making it the first Marvel movie to do so.
Creed II also made a whopping $200 million at the box office worldwide.
Jordan’s production company is the first company to adopt an initiative, the inclusion rider, which makes it mandatory to have a specific standard of diversity in casting and production.
Jordan’s just finished working on a courtroom drama called Just Mercy by Warner Bros. He is also set to star in the movie, Without Remorse for Paramount.
Jordan and Black Panther director, Ryan Coogler recently spoke to young leaders and mentors in Oakland, California to provide advice to for the attendees on Wednesday for Obama’s foundation conference.

Jordan spoke to the young men about the responsibilities that come with success.
“What’s for you is for you, can’t nobody take that from you. Your blessings are going to be your blessings,” Jordan said. “Try to be the best person you can be. Karma is real. Give out to the universe and it will conspire to make it happen for you. I really believe that!”
