Amid the COVID-19 pandemic and social distancing requirements, Swizz Beats and Timbaland combined their industry knowledge with innovation to create the Verzuz battle series. The series brings different music icons together a social platform to entertain their fans while quarantining.
Since Verzuz began this spring, stars such as Snoop Dogg, DMX, Erykah Badu, Jill Scott, Babyface, Teddy Riley, and more have graced the friendly battle arena, prompting the series’ popularity continues to grow. It has created space for artists to entertain their fans while stimulating music streams.
“The dynamics of sound and personality have to be there: Sometimes they’re similar, sometimes they’re in opposition. You want something that works sonically and is entertaining,” Timbaland told Variety.
The two artists have had millions of their records sold … and just as many fans. People are definitely talking, wondering if Mr. “Run it!” could handle himself against Mr. “Nice and Slow.”
Most people are in favor of Usher winning, but many are saying it wouldn’t even be close.
Twitter user @hoodopulence said Usher would “obliterate” Chris Brown.
Another tweeter, used Usher’s “Confessions, Part 2” music video in a meme to take as much respect from Chris as they could.
User @CandiceBenbow seems to have been offended by the pairing, calling the match up just plain “disrespectful.”
The Shade Room reposted Chris Brown’s response to the internet’s growing interest in this vocal showdown, which “Yo” singer originally posted on his Instagram story.

“People want Usher and Chris Brown, but, that’s a big brother/little brother thing: What I’d like to see is Usher going up against Justin Timberlake, and Chris Brown vs. Justin Bieber. That makes sense to me,” Swizz Beats told Variety.
So the question remains, “Would you like to see C-Breezy in a hit-for-hit song battle against Usher Raymond?” or would you rather see the two go against era-appropriate artists.
