At the end of the year, Adam Chinn, Sotheby’s chief operating officer, will leave the company and his position will be eliminated. Taking his place will be John Cahill, with the title of executive vice president, chief commercial officer, and Ken Citron, executive vice president, operations and chief transformation officer.
Chinn came on board with Sotheby’s in January of 2016 along with the company’s acquisition of Art Agency Partners, of which he was a partner. According to the Art Newspaper, which first reported today’s news, Chinn and Art Agency Partners will not continue a relationship after his departure.
Cahill is a lawyer who has worked with Sotheby’s, and Citron has been serving as a consultant at the house, after having been Christie’s chief operating officer for five years
