Janet Jackson is set to be inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on Friday night but it is being reported by Page Six, that she will not perform during the ceremony at Barclay’s Center in Brooklyn.
A source told Page Six, “She’s preparing for her ‘Metamorphosis’ residency in Vegas, so that’s been her focus.”

According to the concert’s release, the show’s experience will “peel back the layers of the immensely private life of [Jackson], sharing her transformation from a young girl with issues of self-esteem to global Icon.”
The 52-year-old singer and actress announced her Las Vegas residency in February. The 15 shows will take place at the MGM resort’s Park Theater, starting in May and ending in August.
According to Entertainment Weekly, Jackson wrote on Instagram the residency marks a “celebration of my journey” in the music industry and will include a special performative tribute to her 1989 album Janet Jackson’s Rhythm Nation 1814 — which turns 30 years old on Sept. 19.
The ‘Metamorphosis’ press release says the set includes “thought-provoking” elements alongside “electrifying visuals, explosive dance numbers” and “fan-favorite deep cuts” from the pop-star’s career.
Jackson will join the artists such as Aerosmith, Lady Gaga, James Taylor, and Billy Idol, who are also doing brief stints in Vegas this year.

In addition to her Rock & Roll Hall of Fame recognition, Jackson has also received the Billboard Icon Award last summer where championed for women.
“I’m deeply humbled and grateful for this award. I believe that for all of our challenges, we live at a glorious moment in history,” Jackson said during her acceptance speech. “It’s a moment when at long last women have made it clear that we will no longer be controlled, manipulated, or abused.”
Fellow inductee Radiohead will also not be performing at the awards ceremony. Jackson along with Radiohead will be inducted with Stevie Nicks, Def Leppard, The Cure, Roxy Music, and The Zombies.
