A former Teen Vogue editor is using her voice and influence after being assaulted by a hostile Uber driver.
And now she says she’s been punished by the ride-sharing company who refused to acknowledge the abuse and kicked her off the platform.
Elaine Welteroth, recounted a harrowing experience on Instagram about a violent interaction with the angry Uber driver that left the media star with a bruised arm, reports the Root.

Welteroth said the driver dropped her off in the wrong location and instead of helping the popular influencer get to her destination she said he kicked her out of the vehicle and called the police.
Confused about where she was, Welteroth said she asked the driver: “I said, ‘Are we here? Which way is it,’” she says in the video she took and posted on Instagram. The driver was already on the phone reporting her to the police for no apparent reason.
And then when she got out of the car, the driver reportedly slammed her arm in the door but he told the police, she hit him.
A bystander can be heard in the video yelling, “She did not hit him.”
Welteroth uploaded a picture of her bruised arm on Instagram. That’s when Uber also kicked her off the app and tagged her as a hostile customer.

“Too many of us deal with this kind of mistreatment daily and we just keep it moving,” Elaine Welteroth wrote.
“Because we know we are bigger and stronger than the awful, petty things that happen to us. Because we know that our energy and time are our most valuable commodities. Because we believe in practicing the living mantra: ‘When they go low, we go high.’”
Her social media post caught the attention of Uber board member Ariana Huffington, reached out to Welteroth and apologized for what happened.
That driver is now being investigated.
