The honorees are Taraji P. Henson, Garrett Morris, Mara Brock Akil, and Jeffrey Wright.
Honorees for this year’s American Black Film Festival (ABFF) have been announced. The sixth annual ABFF Honors will take place at the SLS hotel in Beverly Hills, CA, Sunday, March 3.
This year, Taraji P. Henson, Jeffrey Wright, Garrett Morris, and Mara Brock Akil will be honored. Tommy Davidson will host.

“For decades, these esteemed ABFF Honorees have elevated their projects and brought joy to audiences across the world,” said NICE CROWD CEO and President Jeff and Nicole Friday in a written statement. “It is our honor to recognize Garrett, Taraji, Jeffrey, and Mara for all their contributions to culture and the industry throughout their remarkable careers. We look forward to celebrating their many achievements and gathering with our fantastic ABFF partners.”
Morris, the first Black cast member of the longest-running television comedy show, Saturday Night Live, will receive the Hollywood Legacy Award. This typically goes to a trailblazing artist who has been working for more than four decades and has inspired those who followed.
Henson, a Golden Globe winner and Academy Award-nominated actress, will receive the Female Excellence in the Arts Award for her distinguished body of work. Wright will take home the Male Excellence in the Arts Award.
Mara Brock Ali, a screenwriter, will head home with the Industry Visionary Award for being a “trendsetting content creator” whose work and commitment to making sure the issues of diversity, equity, and inclusion in the film and television industry are brought to the attention of those who work in it.
