Black men arrested at Starbucks settle for $1 each and $200K entrepreneur program

Two black men arrested for sitting at a Philadelphia Starbucks without ordering anything settled with the city Wednesday for a symbolic $1 each and a promise from officials to set up a $200,000 program for young entrepreneurs. The arrest of Rashon Nelson and Robinson on April 12 touched off a furor around the U.S. over racial profiling. They were led away in handcuffs and accused of trespassing after the manager called police, saying the men refused to buy anything or leave.

Outrage after Texas principal jokes about calling police on special needs black student

The principal of an elementary school outside Houston is in hot water after making a tasteless joke about a special needs student. According to Houston’s KPRC Channel 2, Ponderosa Elementary School Principal Shanna Swearingen was talking to a group of staffers about a Black student with behavioral issues, who was known to run away from the school, when she suggested they call the police the next time he acted up in class.

Mom furious after 1-year-old baby suffers horrendous facial injuries at daycare

Tiffany Griffin has serious questions for the Indianapolis daycare that sent her one-year-old son home with horrific facial injuries. Little Jesse had severe swelling on his lips and eyes and his face was covered in cuts. The daycare, Kiddiegarden, told Griffin that another child caused the injuries, but the mom does not believe a child is capable of inflicting this level of harm. The Family and Social Services Administration issued an emergency closure notice on Kiddiegarden.
