The Ronald O. Perelman Center for the Performing Arts, scheduled to open as part of the World Trade Center in New York, has received a grant for $89 million from the Lower Manhattan Development Corporation (LMDC) and the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development. The funds are allocated for construction costs for the center’s new building designed by the architecture firm REX, and the institution says it has now raised 82 percent of total construction costs.
Maggie Boepple, the Perelman Center’s president, said in a release, “We are deeply grateful to the LMDC for their support to help realize the dream of creating a performing arts center in Lower Manhattan that will serve the local community, New Yorkers from all five boroughs, New Jersey residents, and visitors from around the nation and the world.”
