Loyal watchers of The Wendy Williams Show have been experiencing a seemingly never-ending downward spiral of bad news that started in February 2022, when it was announced the long-running talk show would be replaced with a new series hosted by another daytime queen, Sherri Shepherd. In the span of nearly three years since, we’ve come to realize that it was due to many personal issues in Wendy’s life, including a bout with alcoholism, a brutal public divorce sparked by martial betrayal and an unfortunate battle with dementia that exacerbated due to all the stress at once.
These past few days have seen a handful of cheerful health updates in Wendy’s life as she attended the graduation of her son, Kevin Hunter Jr., from Florida International University this weekend in Miami.
Florida-based foodie Ronald Beasley was given access to capture the weekend’s festivities from a first-person perspective, which showed Wendy fully capacitated — contrary to a prior report made last month by her guardian, Sabrina Morrisey — and enjoying time with the family as she got her nails done and, surprisingly enough, received her first wig in over a year.
Tear-jerking video below:

The video received wide attention soon after it was posted this past Sunday (Dec 22), and received even more when Charlamagne tha God reposted the video to his Instagram earlier today. Kevin Jr. even dropped a few words himself in the latter’s comment section, writing in reference to his mom, “Thank you fam! 🙏🏽🙏🏽🙏🏽 Let’s get her home 🤞🏽.” He went on to add, “While I’m here quick update on my mom. She’s sober and wants to come home. We’re fighting to make that happen because Isolation is killing her faster than anything else.”
While the videos and photos from this past weekend might’ve appeared to show that Williams was finally back with family, it was more than likely just a visitation approved by the courts. More on Wendy’s current living conditions below, via Page Six:
“It’s unclear where Williams currently stays but in February, her brother shared she was living in an undisclosed treatment facility.
Page Six has reached out to Williams’ rep for comment but did not immediately hear back.
Last week, the former ‘Wendy Williams Show’ host — who was diagnosed with frontotemporal dementia and aphasia in February — cried tears of joy as she watched her son walk across the stage at his graduation.
Williams, who wore a sequin floor-length dress and black-and-white Chanel boots, was seen smiling and cheering for her only child before wiping away tears.
The former radio show host, who was seen using a mobility scooter to travel around to and from the venue last Thursday, attended the ceremony with her 93-year-old dad, Thomas Williams Sr., and his other daughter, Wanda Finnie.”
With the holidays right around the corner, we can only hope that Wendy Williams and her whole family can be together and one day get her fully back to herself again. Based on the few clips that we’ve all seen recently, there may be hope for movement in the right direction.
