Wendy Williams has officially called it quits on her 25-year marriage to Kevin Hunter.
“Thank you to everyone for respecting the family’s privacy during this time,” a personal representative of Williams’ said in a statement to EBONY. “Kevin is supportive of Wendy, and they are working through this process together. No additional comment will be provided at this time.”
According to Page Six, the talk show host filed for divorce in Essex County, New Jersey. Hunter, the executive producer of The Wendy Williams Show, was served with paper early Thursday morning.
“Wendy and her family have been a part of Debmar-Mercury for over 10 years. We respect their privacy regarding personal matters. As always, we remain committed to bringing an entertaining and topical show to our viewers,” a spokesperson for the Daytime Emmy-nominated show said in a statement to E! News.
News of the split came after months of cheating rumors. In March, it was speculated that Hunter had fathered a child with his alleged mistress. Williams brushed off the allegations during an episode of her show.
“I want to shout out to my husband. I’m still wearing my ring,” she pointed out. “Believe me you, when you’ve been with somebody for 28 years … married for 25 years … we know each other. He’s my best friend, he’s my lover, he’s all this and he’s all that. I know what you’ve been seeing and I know what the streets have been talking about.”
A few hours before the divorce filing was announced, Williams appeared to swap out her wedding ring for a diamond flower ring in a video on the Instagram page of her makeup artist, Merrell Hollis.
Williams and Hunter wed in 1997, three years after meeting at a skating rink. They welcomed their son, Kevin Hunter Jr., in 2000.
