Michael Govan, the director of the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, said he is working to bring the fundraising total for its proposed Peter Zumthor–designed building up to $600 million by the end of the year. LACMA currently has $550 million lined up for the $650 million project, and tariffs, inflation, and other pressures threaten to increase the cost of the initiative, whose groundbreaking has been pushed back a year, to late 2019. The Cincinnati Art Museum and the local Listermann Brewing Company are minting a beer tied to the museum’s van Gogh show, which opens today.
