Serena Goes for #24 Saturday vs. Upstart Andreescu

Last night’s women’s semifinals at the US Open earned a 1.6 overnight rating, up 14% from a year ago and equaling ESPN’s best for that round, achieved in 2017 when all four players were Americans. The telecast’s rating peaked at a 2.2 rating from 8:15-8:30 p.m. ET, the end of Serena Williams’ victory over Elina Svitolina.

Men’s Semifinals Today

Today’s Men’s Semifinals presented by Fidelity Investments on ESPN, Friday, Sept. 6, at 4 p.m. will start with #5 Daniil Medvedev vs. Grigor Dimitrov who is unseeded but once ranked as high as #3.  The nightcap will see 18-time Major champion Rafael Nadal playing 23-year-old #24 Matteo Berrettini.

Women’s Championship Saturday:  Serena Seeks History, Andreescu Looking to Win in Open Debut

In Saturday’s Women’s Championship:  Coverage presented by Mercedes Benz (ESPN, 4 p.m. ET), Serena Williams will be attempting – for the fourth time – to win a Major final which would secure her 24th Grand Slam title, tying the all-time record currently held by Margaret Court.  In her way is 19-year old #15 Bianca Andreescu of Canada who is playing in her first US Open and only her fourth Major overall.  She has not lost a completed match since March.

ESPN & the US Open

ESPN has exclusive live action to the US Open with more than 160 hours on television and 1,300 more streaming live on the ESPN app via ESPN+ and ESPN3.  The daily action from the USTA Billie Jean King National Tennis Center will culminate with the Women’s Championship on Saturday, Sept. 7, and the Men’s Championship on Sunday, Sept. 8, both at 4 p.m. ET.
