President Donald Trump wants Colin Kaepernick to attend a summer summit at the White House to discuss race, according to People.com.
Darrell Scott, a Cleveland-based pastor and adviser to the president, was the first to share the news of Trump’s summit plans, telling People that there will be two separate summits held at the White House this summer: one summit for high-profiled athletes and another for famous musicians.
“He is 100 percent for it. He was very enthusiastic about it,” Scott said of Trump after a White House meeting last week, according to People.
Scott said some of the famous athletes that will be in attendance include former boxing champions Mike Tyson and Evander Holyfield, as well as Pro Football Hall of Famer Jim Brown.
“These are guys on the president’s side,” Scott told People. The pastor claims Trump wants people “from the left” like Kaepernick to heat the discussion up.
“We don’t want to sanitize it. I want people from the left to attend. I want it to get heated, but I want it to be respectful,” Scott told People. “I want them to see and know the Donald Trump I know and they will say, ‘This guy isn’t who I’ve been lead to believe he is.’”
