The first Saturday in October features nearly every top team playing on an ESPN network throughout the day, beginning with No. 5 LSU, No. 6 Oklahoma, No. 8 Wisconsin and No. 12 Penn State all in the noon window. The trend continues into the late afternoon with No. 11 Texas and in prime-time where No. 4 Ohio State plays its first ranked opponent of the season in No. 25 Michigan State and No. 3 Georgia travels for a SEC showdown. Overall, ESPN’s networks have the four highest ranked teams which are in action this weekend and seven of the top 10.
ABC’s Saturday Night Football: No. 4 Ohio State Hosting No. 25 Michigan State
The fourth-ranked Ohio State Buckeyes will face No. 25 Michigan State (7:30 p.m. ET) on ABC’s Saturday Night Football Presented by Wells Fargo, as Ohio State opens up the home portion of their Big Ten East schedule. Both teams are 2-0 in conference play and the Spartans have won two of the last three meetings in Columbus, Ohio. Chris Fowler, Kirk Herbstreit and Maria Taylor will be at Ohio Stadium for the call of the game.
Nearly Every ESPN Network with a Top Ranked Team in the Noon Window
Sixth-ranked Oklahoma and No. 12 Penn State will be in conference action, as the Sooners travel to Kansas on ABC (noon) and the Nittany Lions welcome in Purdue on ESPN (noon). Both Oklahoma and Penn State are undefeated on the season and are looking for their second conference victory. Dave Pasch, Greg McElroy and Tom Luginbill will be in Lawrence, Kan., while Bob Wischusen, Dan Orlovsky and Allison Williams will be in University Park, Pa.
In the same window, the No. 5 LSU Tigers welcome in Utah State on SEC Network (noon) and No. 8 Wisconsin will host Kent State on ESPNU (noon) as both ranked teams look to remain undefeated. Dave Neal, DJ Shockley, Dawn Davenport will be in Baton Rouge, La., and Clay Matvick and Ryan Leaf, are in Madison, Wisc.
No. 3 Georgia, No. 11 Texas, and No. 15 Washington on the Road in Conference Action
The theme of top teams is prevalent throughout the day on all ESPN networks, as No. 11 Texas Longhorns travel to West Virginia (ABC, 3:30 p.m.), No. 3 Georgia will be at Tennessee in primetime (ESPN, 7 p.m.), and No. 15 Washington heads to Stanford in the final game window (ESPN, 10:30 p.m.).
Texas and West Virginia are both 3-1 overall and 1-0 in Big 12 action, while Georgia hasn’t lost a conference road game in nearly a calendar year. For the Huskies and Cardinal, the matchup is the 90th all-time, with Washington holding a slight 43-42 advantage. There have been four ties in the series.
Steve Levy, Brian Griese, Todd McShay and Molly McGrath will be in Morgantown, W.V., while Sean McDonough, Todd Blackledge, and Holly Rowe will be in Knoxville, Tenn., for the ESPN CFB150 Showcase Game, and Jason Benetti, Rod Gilmore, and Quint Kessenich will be in Stanford.

- 18 UCF is at Cincinnati (8 p.m.) in a matchup of top American Athletic Conference teams Friday, Oct. 4, on ESPN (8 p.m.)
- 24 SMU will play its first game as a ranked team since 1986 as they host Tulsa on ESPNU (7:30 p.m.)
