Day 18: Fave Toni Morrison Character
Hands down my favourite Character from a Toni Morrison novel is Pilate Dead from Song of Solomon. What an interesting, touching, and mysterious character. If you haven’t yet met Song of Solomon what are you waiting for. Get to it! You won’t regret it. Song of Solon is also great for deep discussions in book clubs. There will be so much to analyze.
Quote from Pilate Dead:
“I wish I’d a knowed more people. I would a loved ‘em all. If I’d knowed more, I would a loved more.
Song Of Solomon‘.
What is Song of Solomon about?
Milkman Dead was born shortly after a neighborhood eccentric hurled himself off a rooftop in a vain attempt at flight. For the rest of his life he, too, will be trying to fly. With this brilliantly imagined novel, Toni Morrison transfigures the coming-of-age story as audaciously as Saul Bellow or Gabriel García Márquez. As she follows Milkman from his rustbelt city to the place of his family’s origins, Morrison introduces an entire cast of strivers and seeresses, liars and assassins, the inhabitants of a fully realized black world.
