The former child actor was sentenced to 30 months after pleading guilty to illegally possessing a firearm in Iowa.
Child star Bobb’e Thompson, best known for his roles in That’s So Raven and The Tracy Morgan Show, has been sentenced to two years in prison after pleading guilty to carrying a gun.
According to USA Today, Thompson, 30, pleaded “guilty to possession of a firearm by a prohibited person on Sept. 16 and was sentenced in Iowa federal court to 30 months in prison and two-and-a-half years of supervised release.”
Thompson reportedly took a loaded gun that was allegedly stolen when he was pulled over by a state trooper while driving 104 miles per hour in Cerro Gordo County, Iowa, on Sept. 22, 2025.
Thompson was indicted by a grand jury on Jan. 14 and entered a guilty plea on April 28.
The federal sentence handed down to Thompson is just one piece of his ongoing legal troubles. According to Judge Leonard T. Strand’s ruling, his two-and-a-half-year prison term will run after any additional sentence he could receive in connection with pending criminal cases in Washington and Missouri.
Strand also suggested that Thompson serve his time at a federal facility in Oklahoma, Illinois or Kansas, or at a Bureau of Prisons location that would allow him to remain as close as possible to his family.
The conviction is not Thompson’s first run-in with the law. Prosecutors said he was convicted in Los Angeles in January 2020 of battery causing serious bodily injury and assault by force. Two years later, he was convicted of illegally possessing a firearm in Los Angeles.
Thompson began working in television in 2002 with a role on My Wife and Kids. His subsequent credits included The Tracy Morgan Show, 30 Rock and the 2021 VH1 movie Miracles Across 125th Street, which starred Nick Cannon.
He was perhaps best known to younger viewers for his appearances on Disney Channel’s That’s So Raven and its spinoff Cory in the House, where he played Stanley, a recurring antagonist who was also romantically interested in Raven, played by Raven-Symoné.
