Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects will open a second gallery in downtown Los Angeles, Artforum reports. The new location, which measures 11,000 square feet, will be located in a former tire factory at 1700 S. Santa Fe Avenue, and will open this fall with a group show featuring work by artists on the gallery’s roster.

First opened in 2000, Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects has been based out of its current 8,000-square-foot location in Culver City since 2010. Between 2007 and 2009, the gallery also maintained a satellite space in Germany called Susanne Vielmetter Berlin Projects.

In the past few years, various galleries have expanded to Los Angeles, among them Matthew Marks, Hauser & Wirth, Maccarone, Team Gallery, Reena Spaulings Fine Art, and, most recently, Tanya Bonakdar Gallery. But few galleries in L.A. have multiple spaces in the city, and most blue-chip spaces do not place as great an emphasis on representing artists based in the city as Susanne Vielmetter Los Angeles Projects. Currently listed on its roster are Andrea Bowers, Ruben Ochoa, Edgar Arceneaux, Kim Dingle, Nick Aguayo, Liz Glynn, and Tam Van Tran, among others.
