Legacy Russell has been named associate curator of exhibitions for New York’s Studio Museum in Harlem. She arrives at the museum after work in European gallery relations at Artsy and previous curation projects including a series of multimedia events that explored digital feminism at the Institute of Contemporary Arts in London in 2017. Russell also penned a book on the topic, titled Glitch Feminism, to be published by Verso.
In a statement, Thelma Golden, the Studio Museum’s director and chief curator, said of Russell, “She is an exciting emerging curatorial voice, combining keen critical and visual intelligence with broad experience in the cultural sphere and an energetic spirit of public engagement. As we enter our 50th anniversary year and prepare to begin construction on our new home, we’re thrilled to have Legacy join us in advancing the mission of the Studio Museum.”
