Jon Stewart Interviews Athletes; Hannah Storm Anchors Segments from Site

Again this year, SportsCenter will have a presence at the ninth annual Department of Defense Warrior Games, a multi-sport event for wounded, injured or ill service personnel and veterans that will be held next week at the U.S. Air Force Academy in Colorado Springs, Col.

Anchor Hannah Storm will be at the Warrior Games and will host segments from the event on Monday (6 p.m. ET) and Tuesday (9 a.m. hour) editions of SportsCenter. And Jon Stewart, former host of The Daily Show who has for years been an advocate for veterans and is an ambassador for the games, will again serve as master of ceremonies for the opening of the games on June 2 and for the third year will interview several Warrior Games athletes for features to air during SportsCenter.

On Sunday editions of SportsCenter, the SC Featured segment will tell the story of Maj. Christina Truesdale, who was inspired to compete in the Warrior Games after watching some of last year’s event on ESPN. Stewart interviewed her at Fort Benning in Georgia.

The 6 p.m. SportsCenter on Monday will include a roundtable discussion with Stewart and several Warrior Games athletes, while the Tuesday morning segment will feature Storm interviewing Army Specialist Anthony Farve, who lost a leg in Iraq.

Athletes from the U.S. Army, Marine Corps, Navy, Air Force and Special Operations Command, in addition to athletes from the U.K. Armed Forces, Australian Defence Force and, for the first time, the Canadian Armed Forces, will compete in the Games June 1-9. They will go head-to-head in 11 events: archery, cycling, shooting, sitting volleyball, swimming, track and field, wheelchair basketball and, for the first time in Warrior Games history, indoor rowing, powerlifting and time trial cycling.
