Universal Pictures is bringing Snoop Dogg’s life story to the big screen, and the upcoming biopic has assembled a cast to portray some of the biggest names in West Coast Hip-Hop history.

Titled “Snoop,” the R-rated film is scheduled to hit theaters August 6, 2027, with Jonathan Daviss starring as Snoop Dogg. Craig Brewer, whose credits include “Hustle & Flow,” “Black Snake Moan” and “Dolemite Is My Name,” will direct.
The movie will explore Snoop’s rise alongside the artists, executives, friends and family members who helped shape his story. The inclusion of Dr. Dre, Tupac, Warren G, Nate Dogg, Kurupt, The Lady of Rage and Suge Knight suggests the film will spend significant time revisiting Snoop’s emergence during one of the most influential periods in West Coast Hip-Hop and the rise of Death Row Records.

Snoop Dogg is serving as a producer on the project alongside Brian Grazer and Allan Mandelbaum of Imagine Entertainment and Death Row Pictures president Sara Ramaker. Joe Robert Cole, co-writer of “Black Panther” and “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever,” wrote the original screenplay, with Brewer rewriting the story. “Snoop” will also mark the first theatrical project under Death Row Pictures’ film and television development deal with NBCUniversal.
