The San Antonio Museum of Art has acquired 50 photographic works by the late artist Brett Weston. The pieces by Weston, whose father was photographer Edward Weston, were a gift from the collector and philanthropist Christian Keesee, who founded the Brett Weston Archive in 1996.

The Weston works, dating from 1940 to 1985, largely capture landscapes in the American southwest. In a statement, Suzanne Weaver, the museum’s curator of modern and contemporary art, said, “This generous gift enriches our holdings of over 1,500 photographs, which are primarily photojournalist, documentary, and street photography, by representing one of the most important themes–landscape–in American photographic practices since the 19th century.”
