Rihanna was by her boyfriend A$AP Rocky’s side on Dec. 4 as he attended the Footwear News Achievement Awards (FNAA) in New York, where he was honored with the Collaboration of the Year award for his partnership with Puma.
In 2023, the “Fashion Killa” rapper was appointed as the creative director for Puma’s new collaboration with global racing giant F1. Under the role, he developed exclusive capsule collections, influencing the brand’s seasonal design direction, according to a press release.
Before watching her boo accept his prestigious award, Rihanna stopped to chat with Entertainment Tonight on the red carpet, where she gushed about Rocky’s big honor.
“I left my kids to be here. I’m super proud of their dad,” the Fenty Beauty CEO said when asked if she was amazed by the rapper’s work with Puma.
“That’s my baby daddy,” she declared. “He’s always influenced the fashion game. He’s always had a unique sense of style that designers have honed in on and actually used as inspiration for collections. And he’s never gotten the amount of credit that he deserves.”
The Bajan beauty added, “Being here tonight, it just feels great to see him achieve something that we always knew he was a part of and influenced. And I’m proud to be here by his side, and it’s a big deal.”
Rocky, who played a key role in revitalizing Puma’s Inhale and Mostro styles, dressed to impress as he accepted his FNAA award. He wore a leather shearling jacket, black sunglasses, black viscose silk trousers, and squared-toe dress shoes, FN reported. Rihanna complemented his style perfectly, sporting an elegant white Alaïa dress paired with custom Manolo Blahnik sandals alongside Chrome Hearts, Jacob & Co. pieces, and vintage Van Cleef & Arpels jewelry from Joseph Saidian & Sons.
During his acceptance speech, Rocky smiled with excitement, reflecting in awe on how far he had come in his journey with Puma in such a short amount of time.
“Yo, this is nuts,” the Harlem native told the crowd, according to FN. “You know, initially, I just wanted to come up here and just talk a lot of sh*t, you know, about how lit and how handsome I am. How we the best. But honestly, I’m very humbled by this whole experience, honestly, and I would rather just say some sh*t from the heart that is genuine.”
The 36-year-old rapper expressed his gratitude to Rihanna, calling her one of his greatest sources of inspiration. He also took a moment to acknowledge the entire Puma team for their dedication to the brand’s latest designs and innovations.
“I just want to take this moment out to thank the North American team at Puma, who [are] killing sh*t right now, we did that,” Rocky added. “And I want y’all to come up here and accept this with me right now. Bring your asses up on stage.”
Congrats to A$AP Rocky!
