Prosecutors have hit R. Kelly with 10 counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse, TMZ reports. Reportedly, nine of the 10 counts involve alleged victims ranging in age from 13 to 16 years old. One alleged victim is the subject of four counts, and there four girls total listed as possible victims.
Sources tell the website Kelly plans to turn himself in voluntarily Friday night in Chicago. Prosecutors will still issue an arrest warrant in the meantime. Criminal sexual abuse is a class 2 felony in Illinois. Each of the 10 charges carries a max sentence of 3 to 7 years in prison.
This news comes after lawyer Michael Avenatti handed over a second tape of who he believes is Kelly having sex with a minor to authorities. He also confirmed that a third tape exists. The testimony of two new accusers likely attributed to the charges being filed as well.
Kelly was found not guilty in his 2008 child pornography case, where the initial tape was shown as evidence.
