The 17th edition of Art Basel Miami Beach opens to the public on Thursday, December 6, with a preview day for invited guests today. The fair brings together 268 galleries from 35 countries, including 29 first-time exhibitors, at the city’s convention center. Part 2 of ARTnews’s two-part preview looks at the exhibitors in the smaller sections of the fair: Edition (for editioned works), Kabinett (for curated booths by exhibitors in the main Galleries section), Nova (for work created within the past three years), Positions (for curated solo presentations), and Survey (for booths presenting historic works either in solo or thematic presentations). (Part 1 surveys the exhibitors in the Galleries section.)
Among the highlights are Romare Bearden at the booth of New York’s DC Moore Gallery in the Kabinett section; Jeffrey Gibson at the booth of L.A.’s Roberts Projects in the Nova section; Marilá Dardot in the booth of Mexico City’s Arredondo – Arozarena in the Nova section; and Regina Vater in the booth of São Paulo’s Galerie Jaqueline Martins in the Survey section.
