The PinchukArtCenter in Kiev, Ukraine, has revealed the shortlist for its 2018 Future Generation Art Prize, an award that recognizes an artist aged 35 or younger. The shortlisted artists will now be commissioned to create new works that will go on view at the museum and at next year’s Venice Biennale.
The winner of the prize, which will be named in March of next year, is to receive $100,000—$40,000 of which serves as an “investment in their practice,” according to a release. The prize’s jury will also award $20,000 to up to five artists on the shortlist.
This year’s jury included Natalia Valencia Arango, associate curator of Mexico City’s Estancia Femsa Casa Barragán; Julie Boukobza, director of the Luma Arles residency program and 89plus residency at the Lab of the Google Cultural Institute in Paris; Tatiana Kochubinska, curator of the research platform at the PinchukArtCentre; Tumelo Mosaka, chief curator of the Investec Cape Town Art Fair; Zeynep Öz, curator of the Turkish Pavilion at the next Venice Biennale; and Richard Riley, independent curator and chair of the Gilbert & George Centre in London.
