Peyton’s Places library on ESPN+
Peyton’s Places, the 30-episode documentary series hosted by Peyton Manning, debuts Episode 14: Brett Favre this Sunday, October 13, exclusively on ESPN+, as Peyton travels to Green Bay to visit with the Hall of Fame Packers quarterback.
In this episode, Peyton and Favre drive around Green Bay in a convertible, share football stories over cheese curds in a suite at Lambeau Field and look back at film of past NFL games, including the Colts-Packers matchups when the legendary NFL quarterbacks played against one another.
Favre talks about being an unselfish player and playing in the Super Bowl, while admitting he did not know what a nickel defense was early in his career.
Peyton: “Did you know the nickel defense?”
Favre: “I didn’t care. I didn’t know what the nickel defense was…And that’s a true story. It took me forever to muster up the energy to ask.”
The NFL’s ultimate gunslinger also recounts his acting performance in the film “There’s Something About Mary,” discusses his emotional return to Lambeau when the Packers retired his No. 4, and how his then-coach Mike Holmgren got him to stop tackling his own receivers in celebration after touchdowns.
Favre: “Holmgren told me, very matter-of-factly, if you tackle one guy, ever again, I’m fining you $5,000. Well, that was like $500,000, so I never tackled another guy.”
The football-themed Peyton’s Places series is being produced by NFL Films in collaboration with ESPN+ and is part of the year-long celebration of the National Football League’s 100th season.

Peyton’s Places: Volume 2, the series’ latest compilation show, will air Tuesday, October 15, at 10:30 p.m. ET on ESPN. The 30-minute program hosted by Trey Wingo will feature highlights from episodes 7-12, which focused on ‘Da Bears’ fans, the history of the Lombardi Trophy, J.J. Watt and other ‘game wreckers’, the birth of the NFL football and more.
Note: ESPN’s Monday Night Football also returns to Green Bay this week as Aaron Rodgers and the first-place Packers host Matthew Stafford and the NFC North rival Detroit Lions at Lambeau Field on Monday, October 14 at 8:15 p.m. ET.
