It seems like any day that ends in “y” brings another case of White people, mostly women, calling the cops on a Black person for existing.
This latest case stems from a White woman in San Francisco, who the internet has dubbed #PermitPatty, calling the cops on Jordan Austin, an 8-year-old Black girl, who was raising money to go on a trip to Disneyland, for selling bottles of water without a permit.
In a viral video posted on Instagram on Saturday, #PermitPatty, who was later identified as Alison Ettel, can be seen on her cell phone calling the police because the little girl was “illegally selling water without a permit.”
So my little cousin was selling water and didn’t have a permit so this lady decided to call the cops on an 8 year old. #PermitPatty pic.twitter.com/SiL61pnAgl

Ettel can be seen walking and ducking as the child’s mother can be heard on camera confronting her.
“This woman don’t want a little girl to sell some water, she’s calling the police on an 8-year-old girl,” she said.
Ettel says that race had nothing to do with it and that she only “pretended” to call the police and that she was upset because the mother was being too loud, according to HuffPost.
“They were screaming about what they were selling,” she said. “It was literally nonstop. It was every two seconds, ‘Come and buy my water.’ It was continuous and it wasn’t a soft voice, it was screaming.”
She said that she didn’t close the windows of her office because it was too hot and that it wouldn’t have stopped the noise.
Ettel, who is the CEO of a medical marijuana company that sells weed for dogs, says that the mother was the issue.
“I have no problem with enterprising young women. I want to support that little girl. It was all the mother and just about being quiet,” she said.
Social media users were quick to call out Ettel for her business of selling marijuana, something that Black people have been imprisoned for, while she threatens to call the police on a little Black girl.
This is why gentrification is a form of violence. This white woman is selling weed and profiting while black folks sit in prison for life for the same thing, but then she calls the cops on a little black girl selling bottled water. #PermitPatty https://t.co/q6cPmzSXPz

Companies who have done business with Ettel said they would no longer do so, as outrage grew, according to BBC News.
Ettel isn’t the first White woman in the Bay area to call or threaten to call the police on Black people for doing things that everyone else does.
In April, a White woman called the cops on a Black family for using a charcoal grill at an Oakland park and accused them of trespassing in a park that didn’t belong to her.
A crying Ettel was on the Today Show Monday where she said that it wasn’t about race and that she’s received “All kinds of threats…“Horrible, horrible images, and death threats.”

Despite Ettel’s attempts to take away Jordan’s joy, all was not lost. A man who saw the viral video bought Jordan four tickets to go to Disneyland, something that the little girl was overjoyed about.
I think she might be kinda happy @BrannonMusic ? pic.twitter.com/o0t00O7gI8
