The death of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. was a pivotal moment in this country’s history that reverberated for generations to come.
Wednesday marked the 50th anniversary of King’s assassination at the Lorraine Motel in Memphis, TN in 1968.
The website Mic gathered a group of parents, including Rev. Al Sharpton and his daughter Dominique Sharpton, to talk about when they found out about King’s death and how that shaped future conversations about race with their family.
