As federal officials intercepted a pair of bombs meant for New Jersey Sen. Cory Booker and former intelligence director James Clapper, federal officials in California are investigating a package intended for California Sen. Kamala Harris.

The Sacramento Bee first reported that the FBI and Sacramento County Sheriff’s Department were at a post office in south Sacramento investigating a mail bomb similar to the 12 others mailed to prominent Democratic figures along with CNN.

“We are investigating reports of a suspicious package in South Sacramento,” sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. Shaun Hampton said to the Bee. “It resembles the ones that have been reported throughout the country.”

Hampton said authorities were called to the Colonial Post Office at 7:45 a.m. Pacific Time on Friday after a postal worker spotted a package that resembled others that are part of the nationwide investigation.

At the time, he could not confirm reports that the package was addressed to Harris, but another source later confirmed that to the paper. The facility was evacuated and closed as FBI, USPS investigators, and the Sacramento Fire Department arrived at the scene.

Earlier this week, a similar package showed up at a San Diego office building that housed one of Harris’ offices and of the San Diego Union-Tribune.

Federal agents apprehended 56-year-old Cesar Sayoc Jr., in Florida earlier on Friday. Sayoc, a registered Republican who was arrested in 2002 for making bomb threats, was taken into custody without incident while his van, which was covered in Trump paraphernalia, was towed away.

The arrest came a couple of hours after the bombs addressed Booker and Clapper were found at a postal facility in Florida. FBI spokeswoman Gina Swankie provided no details on the package found in California.

“I am unable to confirm the details you have offered but the FBI did respond to law enforcement activity at a postal facility,” Swankie said in an e-mail to the Bee.

President Trump said that Sayoc will be prosecuted “to the fullest extent of the law” during his first comments since the arrest during the Young Black Leadership Summit. This came hours after he took to Twitter claiming coverage of the bomb threats – where he put bomb in quote marks – was a distraction from Republicans supposed success in the midterms.
