Friday’s Bucks-Lakers Telecast Nets 1.7 Metered Market Rating, ESPN’s Highest-Rated NBA Game Since Christmas Day

Last night’s NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC presented by HyperX Gaming delivered a 2.8 metered market rating for the reigning NBA Champion Golden State Warriors’ victory over the Philadelphia 76ers, according to Nielsen. The telecast was up 22 percent from last year’s Houston Rockets vs. Boston Celtics broadcast, which delivered a 2.3. The Warriors vs. Sixers broadcast is this season’s third highest-rated Saturday Primetime game, behind Golden State matchups against the Celtics and Lakers, respectively.

Warriors-Sixers peaked with a 4.0 rating during the final quarter hour. The San Francisco-Oakland market led all local markets with a 10.8 rating, while Philadelphia’s 8.1 is that market’s highest for a Saturday Primetime game. Season to date, NBA Saturday Primetime on ABC is even with last year, averaging a 3.0 metered market rating.

ESPN’s Friday doubleheader also performed well as the Milwaukee Bucks vs. Los Angeles Lakers game averaged a 1.7 metered market rating, an 89 percent spike over last year’s comparable game (0.9 for Timberwolves-Jazz) and ESPN’s highest-rated NBA game since Christmas Day (Bucks-Knicks). Friday’s Raptors-Trail Blazers telecast also averaged a 1.2 metered market rating, up 33 percent from last year’s comparable game (0.9 for Raptors-Wizards). Season-to-date, ESPN’s NBA average is even with 2017-18 (1.3 metered market rating).
