On Nov. 15, 2017, Sean Suiter a veteran detective of the Baltimore Police Department (BPD), killed himself with his own gun, while conducting a murder investigation in one of the most violent neighborhoods in West Baltimore. That is if you believe the findings of an investigation conducted by Maryland State Police, which led to the BPD closing the Suiter case on Nov. 6, an officially declaring his death a suicide.
One day after that conclusion many characterize as controversial, perhaps even outrageous at best, Baltimore City State’s Attorney Marilyn Mosby has indicated the Suiter case is still open.
During a media availability today Mosby said in reference to the Suiter case that it is an, “open and pending matter.” The State’s Attorney provided no further comment.
Suiter, who was a husband and father of five, died one day before he was to testify in a case connected to the notorious Gun Trace Task Force. These are the group of BPD officers currently serving federal time on charges of racketeering, which included instances of officers shaking down Baltimore residents, planting guns and drugs on suspects, selling drugs, filing false police reports and stealing. hundreds of thousands of dollars in fraudulent overtime pay.
