Artist April Gornik has joined the roster of New York’s Miles McEnery Gallery, which also shows work by Beverly Fishman, Hans Hofmann, and Judy Pfaff, among others. Danese/Corey gallery in New York, which has long shown Gornik’s work, no longer represents the artist.
Gornik, who is based in Sag Harbor, New York, is known for her paintings of bodies of water and grassy fields. Her work was surveyed in a mid-career retrospective that opened in 2004 at the Neuberger Museum of Art and the State University of New York, Purchase.
“I am an artist that values, above all, the ability of art to move me emotionally and psychically,” Gornik said in a statement. “I make art that makes me question, that derives its power from being vulnerable to interpretation, that is intuitive, that is beautiful.”
