Saturday Night Live cast member Michael Che, 35, announced a special comedy show that will benefit New York City’s public housing on Thursday.
According to the New York Daily News, all the proceeds from the show go to The Fund for Public Housing, a 501c3 non-profit affiliated with the New York City Housing Authority.
Che, fellow comedian Michelle Wolf and other unannounced guests will entertain a crowd at Irving Plaza, during A Night for NYCHA with Michael Che and Friends on Jan. 11.
“A lot of residents don’t have heat this winter,” Michael Che wrote in a story on Instagram.
“Some insane stat, like 80% had outages, and this money could really help. i grew up in a building like that, and its really tough.”
The 35-year-old was raised in public housing on the Lower East Side of the city.
The Fund for Public Housing was founded in 2015, and its mission is to raise money to create a better living environment for those who live in the projects.
Tickets, ranging from $65 to $150, go on sale on the Live Nation website at 1 p.m. on Friday.
