LeBron James has a message for Donald Trump: He doesn’t care if the president calls him dumb.
In early August, Trump took to Twitter to gripe about the basketball great’s interview with CNN’s Don Lemon.
Though many people came to James’ defense, including first lady Melania Trump, James told the Hollywood Reporter he wasn’t bugged by the insult as much as surprised.
“No, because I’m not [dumb],” James said. “That’s like somebody saying I can’t play ball. That doesn’t bother me at all.”
However, James admits he is a bit perturbed that tweeting insults to athletes is how Trump chooses to spend his time.
“He has the most powerful job in the world. Like, you really got this much time that you can comment on me?” James said.
James doesn’t have much free time these days. Besides starting a four-year contract with the Los Angeles Lakers, he is working on a variety of entertainment projects, including starring in a “Space Jam” sequel with “Black Panther” director Ryan Coogler producing.
