The Wallace Collection is looking ahead (in a big way) with plans to celebrate a big birthday for the elder statesman of UK art, Sir Grayson Perry. The celebrated potter will celebrate his 65th birthday in 2025 with a show at the London museum where he will “explore some of the recurrent themes and inspirations for his art”, says a statement. Museums blogger Maxwell Blowfield points out that Perry is inspired by several classical paintings housed at the Wallace including François Boucher’s Portrait of Madame de Pompadour (1759). Earlier this year, the knight of the realm spilled the beans in an interview with The Art Newspaper. “For my next show at the Wallace Collection, in a couple of years’ time, I’m doing a tiled cabinet and I’ll also probably do a carpet,” he revealed.
