The Frick Collection in New York has announced the election of four new trustees to its board, which is chaired by Elizabeth Eveillard. The appointees are Tai-Heng Cheng, Kathleen Feldstein, Christian Keesee, and Victoria Lea Smith.
A collector of Old Master paintings, Cheng is a partner at the New York–based firm Quinn Emanuel Urquhart & Sullivan, LLP, and he is vice president and member of the executive council of the American Society of International Law. He is a member of the City University of New York LGBTQI Advisory Board and the Oxford University Press Editorial Advisory Board for Investment Claims. Cheng and his husband are members of the Frick’s director’s circle, and they served on the host committee for the museum’s 2018 Spring Garden Party and on the benefit committee for the 2017 Young Fellows Ball. He was formerly a tenured professor of law at New York Law School.
Feldstein has served on the Frick’s Autumn Dinner Benefit Committee for three consecutive years. She currently works as president of the private consulting firm Economics Studies, Inc., and is an honorary trustee at the Museum of Fine Arts Boston, where she held various positions on the board and served on the individuals gifts and planned giving committee. She and her husband endowed the MFA Boston’s Kathleen and Martin Feldstein Fund for Prints, Drawings, and Photographs, and the Kathleen and Martin Feldstein Paintings Conservation Fund. She also collects art, with a particular interest in 17th-century Dutch landscapes.
Keesee is chairman of Kirkpatrick Bank, founder of the Oklahoma Contemporary Arts Center in Oklahoma City, and cofounder of Green Box Arts Festival in Green Mountain Falls, Colorado. He is a trustee of the American Ballet Theatre and American Friends of the Tate in London. A member of the Frick since 2004 and a member of its director’s circle since 2009, Keesee has supported several exhibitions and educational programs at the museum.
Smith is an attorney, a circle fellow at the Aspen Institute, a president’s circle member at the Metropolitan Opera, and a board member of Prisoners Legal Services. She is a contributor to the Frick’s annual fund and a member of its director’s circle. Smith has supported various shows at the institution, including the ongoing presentation “Moroni: The Riches of Renaissance Portraiture.”
Ian Wardropper, the director of the Frick, said in a statement, “The Frick will greatly benefit from the strong professional and philanthropic experiences of our new Trustees, all of whom are generous supporters and active members of the institution. I look forward to working with them more closely through what promises to be a critical and rewarding time for us.”
