Mr. and Mrs. Smith, but with melanin and seasoning. That’s kinda what we are getting with Shadow Force, the new action film starring Kerry Washington (The Six Triple Eight) and Omar Sy (Lupin).
Lionsgate shared the first trailer for Shadow Force, and honestly, it was a pleasant surprise. In the film, Washington and Sy play Kyrah and Isaac, two former leaders of a multinational special forces group called Shadow Force.

The Joe Carnahan-directed film also stars Da’Vine Joy Randolph and Cliff “Method Man” Smith. Washington also produces alongside Pilar Savone, Stephen “Dr.” Love and Sterling K. Brown.
Reactions to the film’s first trailer have been positive, with folks on X, formerly Twitter, all in agreement this is definitely a film they will be seated for.
“Action movie with 2 black leads + a black family. This type of movie literally did not exist 20 years ago. Hopefully this is a new trend,” one user on X said.
Another user added, “Kerry Washington in her Action Movie era… Yup… sign me up!”

Shadow Force is definitely on a lot of people’s radars. Let’s hope these folks will actually be seated in theaters when the movie drops on May 2 so we can turn this solo film into a successful franchise.
