Janelle Monae is not only an amazing musician, but a talented actress. Following her appearances in Moonlight and Hidden Figures, the ATL songstress has now been cast in the upcoming Harriett Tubman biopic.
The film, tentatively titled Harriett, will chronicle Tubman’s journey from escaping slavery to becoming a conductor on the Underground Railroad, leading dozens of slaves to freedom, according to THR.
Monae’s role has yet to be revealed, but she will be co-staring alongside Hamilton’s Leslie Odom. Jr, Joe Alwyn, Jennifer Nettles, Clarke Petersand and Tony Award-winner Cynthia Erivo, who is set to play Tubman.
Monae can next be seen in Robert Zemeckis’ Welcome to Marwen, which hits theaters Dec 21.
