A new comedy that will feature Insecure’s Natasha Rothwell is headed to Netflix.
Rothwell is writing the script with Paula Pell and Michelle Lawler for the new show Hometown. The show will be produced by Eric Gurian and Saturday Night Live alum Tina Fey with Jeff Richmond as the executive producer.
Rothwell, who was nominated for an NAACP Image Award for Insecure and is developing her own original HBO series. According to Deadline, they are keeping the plot for Hometown under wraps. She also wrote and starred in Netflix Presents: The Characters, an original sketch series, and was a writer on SNL. Her next film turns are Sonic The Hedgehog and Wonder Woman 1984.

Pell wrote on SNL for 20 years and scripted Sisters. Rothwell joins Insecure writer and producer Amy Aniobi in making moves.
Aniobi – according to the Hollywood Reporter – has signed an overall deal at HBO, strengthening her relationship with the outlet. The two-year deal will have Aniobi continue as a co-executive producer of Insecure and writing the new limited series The Dolls with Issa Rae and Laura Kittrell.
HBO has also put into development Attachment, a comedy series Aniobi co-created and will also executive produce. Attachment, produced by Reese Witherspoon‘s company Hello Sunshine, centers on a first-generation Indian-American tech CEO who is forced to share her tiny New York City apartment with her mother, who is considering getting a divorce. The two learn to live with each other — and for themselves.

The overall deal for Aniobi comes at the beginning of a new era for HBO as it comes under the umbrella of WarnerMedia, the company formed after AT&T’s merger with Time Warner.
