E’Dena Hines, granddaughter of Oscar-winning actor Morgan Freeman, was tragically killed in 2015 after being stabbed by her boyfriend 25 times.
Almost three years later, the woman who called the police during the domestic disturbance, Cristina Aviles, revealed in court testimony Hines’ last words before boyfriend, Lamar Davenport, took her life.
“‘Why are you doing this?’” Aviles, a 22-year-old nursing student, recalled hearing Hines say as she begged for her life, according to the NY Post.
“They were arguing,” Aviles continued. “She was on the floor, and he was on top of her, restraining her, stopped her from getting loose from his grip. He was trying to keep her down… I proceeded to call the cops.”
She then claimed the killer began screaming that he needed to release “the devil out of her.” Davenport, 30, was in the throes of a drug-induced psychosis when he attacked, police sources told the NY Post.
“And then he pulled out a knife, and then he proceeded to stab her multiple times, she added. “I was in shock when I saw him take out the knife. I don’t know where it came from. She was on her stomach, and then she somehow flipped over, and he stabbed her on the chest.”
Cops had to wrestle him off of the already dead body, as he continued to make stabbing motions with his arm, even as his knife was still inside of the victim.
Freeman issued this statement following the attack.
“The world will never know her artistry and talent and how much she had to offer,” the Oscar winner said. “Her star will continue to shine bright in our hearts, thoughts and prayers. May she rest in peace.”
