When Black women show up, the entire energy shifts. This was the vibe Day One Coachella 2025 attendees caught on April 11. Kicking off spring festival season, the Indio desert pulsed with the sound, style, and spirit of unapologetic Black womanhood.
The iconic Missy Elliott, Memphis rap queen GloRilla, South African global riser Tyla, and Chicago’s beloved Ravyn Lenae performed on various stages throughout the first night. Delivering fly sets and performances, each showed how Black women are the blueprint, setting the tone in music and fashion.

And to think, this is just the beginning. With Megan Thee Stallion, Tink, Muni Long, Amaarae, and more to come, the Black girl takeover is just getting started.
Let’s get into Day One performances.
Missy gave a performance that was part concert, part cultural history lesson, and 100% legendary. With a career spanning decades and a catalog full of hits that never get old, Missy delivered a stage show that reminded everyone why she’s in a league of her own.
The raptress is simply iconic.
GloRilla’s set was pure Memphis fire. The breakout star brought her raw, fun, and no-nonsense energy to the desert stage—and her opening made it clear she didn’t come to blend in. She stepped out wearing a Joker-style cartoon mask, only to dramatically pull it off and reveal her face beat, fresh bob, and full-on bombshell realness.

Tyla finally had her Coachella moment—and sis made it count. After reportedly canceling last year due to injury, the South African star hit the stage and delivered what we’ve been waiting for.
Before leaving the stage, she made her mark. The star took a spray can and wrote “TYLA” in green letters on a larger-than-life tiger prompt. The songstress is living in the moment and doing it her way. Yes, Sis!

Ravyn Lenae also lit up Coachella on day one showing the culture’s versatility and undeniable influence. Bringing to the stage her mix of futuristic R&B, avant-garde, and indie rock sound, Ravyn stunned crowds with some of her hottest hits. Her melodic tones were everything, and her fans were singing every single word.

The Black girl magic doesn’t stop with day one, however. Next up is Megan Thee Stallion, Tink, Muni Long, and Amaarae. If you weren’t able to make it to the West Coast, Coachella  is streaming live starting at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT on YouTube.

Each time Big Glo steps on the stage, she elevates it. She rocked an asymmetrical dark bob paired with a gold and black bodysuit that hugged every curve. The look included black tights and oversized gold shoulder pads, adding even more drama. Her choreography was sharp, and her set felt very polished.
For her set, Tyla wore a red and gold belt paired with distressed black fishnet tights that gave her look an edgy, festival-chic vibe. Her outfit included velvet red  and gold mini shorts and a cropped white top that tied in the front—effortless, cool, and undeniably Tyla. She styled her hair in cornrows and short curls.  Get into the festival vibes!
Ravyn Lenae looked ethereal and sophisticated on stage in a cream monochromatic fit. The fit included a shirt with flowy sleeves, a wide folded shoulder detail, a corset-style bodice, and a high-low skirt. The LA-based artist styled her hair in a middle part with relaxed waves.
